The board approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of an all-wheel-drive hybrid van for the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) nutrition program using funds in the ADRC fund balance. Supervisor Schrafnagle explained the decision as a safety and service improvement for rural roads; ADRC director noted the fund balance was approximately $600,000 the last time it was checked and that the fund is used for equipment purchases such as vans and ovens.
"We have the money and in our, fund balance account, and, the board felt that it's better to be safe than sorry," the sponsor said, urging support for the vehicle purchase to support service reliability in winter and poor-road conditions. The resolution passed with the recorded tally of 28 yes, 0 no, 1 absent.
