Council approves $9.38 million Coblen Road interlocal with Fort Bend County

City staff presented Resolution R‑3892 and described the Coblen Road Segment 2 project, which runs from Band Road to near Highway 36 and is included in Fort Bend County’s 2020 mobility bond and the city's FY2024 capital improvement plan. The staff presentation identified an estimated total construction cost of $9,377,150 and said Fort Bend County would provide mobility funds up to 50% of eligible construction costs, not to exceed $3,210,000; the city’s estimated share was $6,167,150.
Council members asked about the developer’s contribution and funding breakdowns. Staff said the developer (Princewood Development / Friendswood Development in the preserve at Rosenberg) is constructing a portion of the road and that the county, developer and city would share funding responsibilities. After questions, Councilmember Hector Trevino moved to approve Resolution R‑3892; the motion passed unanimously.
