Economic development administrator Esch outlines business visits, CoStar and PlacerAI tools

Mister Esch, the economic development administrator, gave the board an update on outreach and business retention work. "Since our last conversation, I have been continuing the process of doing business visitations," he said, noting a recent engagement with Rooms To Go, which raised a visibility concern because trees planted in the TxDOT right-of-way now obscure their site.
Esch said new tools have been activated to help target retention and visitation efforts. "The CoStar and and Placer AI tools have been placed or have been activated, and we've had training accomplished city staff," he said, adding the tools will be used to refine outreach and report performance. He also briefed the board on coordination with the police chief about expiring security contracts provided by a developer and on plans for a July presentation to council about the grid project. Esch closed by previewing an upcoming workforce conference and a planned white paper on what the FIFA-related events generated for the city.
