Board honors Weaver High wrestling teams and names district employees of the year

The Calhoun County Board recognized Weaver High School boys and girls wrestling teams for state championships and announced a new district 'employee of the year' program, naming winners from each school and several departments.
Mr. Willis (S3) opened recognitions by welcoming a full house and asking winners and coaches to come forward. "Congratulations," Willis said as he introduced the wrestling state champions from Weaver High School and asked coaches to speak about the season.
The head boys coach (S4) described a standout season and named individual champions, saying the team 'took 7 boys to the state tournament and all 7 placed.' Girls head coach Wynn Knight (S5) listed the girls' accomplishments and named Heaven Bishop as a two-time state champion. Board members and attendees applauded the teams.
Later, Jamie Davis (S6), president of the Calhoun County Education Association, announced six $250 mini-grant winners from across the district, naming recipients at White Plains Middle, Mohatchee High, Saks Elementary and other schools. Willis also launched a new district employee recognition program to honor classified staff, including custodians, parapros, bus drivers and central-office staff; he called forward winners from each building and department and announced a luncheon to present certificates.
The board recessed recognition activities before moving to business items; guests who did not wish to stay were invited to exit.
