District planners say late state budget leaves local aid unclear as school year approaches

The superintendent told the board the state legislature had not reached agreement on the budget and that the district was preparing to open school under its current assumptions. "The state Republicans and Democrats [have not] come together for any kind of solution," the superintendent said, adding that "we will see how that all works out" once state aid takes effect on Oct. 1. The superintendent also reported the district was expecting a reduced Title I allocation and that the district is positioned to start the year and adjust the budget later if necessary.
