Chamblee proposes $70-per-year residential sanitation fee increase to shore up solid-waste fund

During the presentation, Budget Strategy Manager Daria Kryskis said the solid-waste fund is running a deficit and the proposed remedy is a $70-per-year increase in residential sanitation fees as part of a three-year plan. "On the residential side, that'll be $70 per year increase," she said, and added that she would double-check the final annual total.
Kryskis said the fee increase aims to reduce reliance on the general fund, noting without the fee change "we would see the general fund substantially increasing its support to that fund by over $1,000,000." She also said commercial sanitation rates will increase and that the commercial adjustments are expected to raise about $30,000 annually.
