City budget staff on the record presented the proposed 2026 budget package that holds the general fund flat at $35,900,000 and projects the millage rate at 6.25 mils. Budget Strategy Manager Daria Kryskis said the city plans to present the budget for adoption at the Dec. 16 council meeting.
Kryskis told the council the proposal reflects slower revenue growth and persistent inflationary pressures. "We began this process about six months ago" and staff sought reductions across departments, she said, adding that health-insurance renewal pressures prompted an earlier switch in carriers. The presentation covered programmatic priorities, special revenues, and planned capital work funded through SPLOST and a GEO bond.
