Calhoun County superintendent: district report card score rises to 87

Superintendent Willis told the Calhoun County Board of Education that the districthad its highest state report-card gains in years, saying the system"Well, recently, the highest Calhoun County had been was an 85. We moved to an 87." He said the district saw improvements in ELA proficiency, math proficiency, English language achievement, college-and-career readiness, graduation rate, attendance and enrollment and noted the system is one of nine statewide to show gains across all those indicators.
Willis framed the progress as the result of a broad effort by administrators, teachers, staff and families, and urged continued board support of resources. He told the board the district is the largest to accomplish that level of cross-area growth and said leadership has begun work with principals to sustain the momentum.
