Commission awards $20,810 contract to replace fire-house bay furnaces

City Manager Holly Phelps reviewed updated bids and explained the item had been tabled at the Oct. 20 meeting to seek additional quotations. The bids presented on Nov. 17 were Central Montana Propane ($20,810 for 250 BTU units), All Weather Techs ($26,950 for 250 BTU units) and Universal Heating ($21,752 for 300 BTU units). Commissioner Hrubes said he favored 300 BTU heaters; Phelps reported the Fire Chief is confident that four 250 BTU units will be sufficient. Commissioner Spika moved to remove the item from the table and then to award the contract to Central Montana Propane; the motions passed on unanimous roll-call votes.
Budget note: Phelps said timing is of the essence and that staff reached out to vendors but did not receive new bids beyond those on file. The commission authorized the purchase to keep the project on schedule.
