The Lewistown City Commission on Nov. 17 authorized the purchase of a replacement patrol vehicle for the Lewistown Police Department from Bison Ford for $50,863.72, not including upfit costs.
City Manager Holly Phelps said the Police Chief solicited bids and received two from Duvall Ford and one from Bison Ford. She told the commission the lower Duvall Ford bid for a 2024 model "did not meet the specs" and two Duvall bids were submitted after the deadline. Phelps said the 2026 models have no firm build dates but the chief was confident delivery would be in spring if the city commits to purchase.
Commissioner Hewitt moved to approve purchasing the vehicle from Bison Ford; Commissioner Spika seconded and the motion passed unanimously on a roll-call vote.
Budget and timing: The purchase was included in the department's budget. The city noted the final upfit (lights, radio, prisoner partition, etc.) will add to total cost and timeline, but no upfit contract was awarded at the Nov. 17 meeting.
