Public services reports 1,107 tons of road salt used since Thanksgiving

Public Services Director Mary Kay briefed council on winter operations, saying the department had used 1,107 tons of road salt since Thanksgiving and had increased the 2025–26 order to 1,500 tons. "Our 600 tons have been delivered," she said, and the department expected the remainder (about 1,050 tons) in the next couple of weeks, providing the city adequate inventory for further storms.
Mary Kay thanked staff for more than 1,300 hours of snow and storm response work this winter and said the increased ordering allows the city to maintain operations if storm frequency continues. Council asked to schedule an update on intersecting infrastructure and sewer projects and to invite relevant staff to a future meeting.
