Council approves multiple variances, defers one item and authorizes several small contracts

Council handled a block of planning and contract items in rapid succession. Motions approved unanimously included a contract authorization for Gracie Gray contractors to install the Sexton Woods crosswalk at a cost not to exceed $39,283.10 and a Jacobs call center agreement amendment not to exceed $15,946.16.
Several variance motions were approved with conditions: a variance for 3641 (conditions around site plan conformity and dumpster access); approval of the 3645 Chamblee Dunwoody Road variance (including masonry/dumpster surface requirements); approvals and denials of multiple variances and waivers for projects at 3525 Broad Street (covered in a separate article); rooftop sign variance approval at 4847 Peachtree Road; and a package of approvals/conditions for 1974/1985th Street that included pedestrian walkways and a minimum 5-foot crosswalk within a proposed drive aisle. The council also deferred the 4900 Peachtree Road item to the January 2026 meeting cycle to allow time to review late-submitted drawings.
Each motion was moved and seconded and recorded as unanimous in the public meeting transcript; the council read conditions for many variances into the public record and empowered planning staff to ensure compliance before issuance of final approvals.
