DeKalb County election staff report no discrepancies in pre-certification review of July 28 special election

DeKalb County election staff told the Board of Registration and Elections on July 30 that an unofficial, preliminary pre-certification comparison of precinct returns for the July 28 special congressional election found no discrepancies.
"As of July 30 today, an unofficial and incomplete comparison of ballots tabulated and unique voter registration numbers credited by precinct and counting group is provided below," Director Smith said, and added, "As you will see, there are no differences." Smith reported the totals by method: absentee 27 ballots, early voting 609, and election day 339.
The board convened the special call meeting solely to review that pre-certification report; Chair (speaker 3) noted the meeting was mandated by state election rules and that no formal action would be taken at the session. There was no public comment at the meeting.
Board members asked whether any significant disruptions, mechanical failures or rescans were necessary; Director Smith replied there were none. The board reserved additional deliberation for the upcoming formal certification meeting scheduled on the regular calendar.
