Committee weighs temporary parking, phased trail cutting at Henrich parcel

Assistant Conservation Agent Georgianna Minenna presented notes from the Henrich workday and said she and Conservation Agent Matt Penella will schedule a site visit beginning at the Wapping Road easement to identify any existing trails. Committee member Heath Emberg suggested installing temporary parking in the proposed parking area to improve access and starting a working trail, and he proposed the Sampson Fund or Community Preservation Committee as possible funding sources.
Lauren McLane raised concerns about a neighbor who has cleared trees and built a shed, potentially encroaching on the parcel; Minenna asked whether the Committee or Conservation Commission had previous conversations with that neighbor. Minenna also reported that, per Agent Penella, the Conservation Department has not yet developed a plan, quotes, or funding for tree removal, so any clearing would need to be done by hand. Heath said removal of existing trees could be dangerous given current conditions and suggested consulting the Highway Department for assistance.
