Assistant Conservation Agent Georgianna Minenna told the committee she and Conservation Agent Matt Penella met with Bay Circuit Trail Coordinator Amber Stearns to discuss the possibility of rerouting a segment of the Bay Circuit Trail away from Grove Street by connecting trails between Three Rivers Basin and Hathaway Preserve. Minenna said the proposal faces a significant constraint: “that connection is challenging because it involves crossing the railroad tracks and wetland areas.” A site visit with the coordinator is planned for the spring to evaluate feasibility.
Minenna also reported Amber Stearns offered to recruit volunteers for Earth Day events if Kingston is interested; the committee discussed bringing those volunteers in for annual town cleanup events. No formal decision was made on the routing or funding at the meeting.
