Committee to plan kiosk, signage and possible hunting permit to boost access at Tree Farm Landing

Committee members said increasing public use is a priority to discourage dumping and vandalism at Tree Farm Landing and to better connect the property to Kingston State Forest. Heath Emberg and Brian Whidden recommended installing a kiosk at the entrance, adding signage and considering a second entrance near the water department building to expand access.
Conservation Agent Matt Penella said staff will start working on a plan to mark trails and install signage on the property to increase public use. Penella told the committee the department plans to ask the Conservation Commission to permit hunting at Tree Farm Landing. Assistant Agent Georgianna Minenna said she will add columns to the trail-work inventory spreadsheet for Brian Whidden and Lauren McLane to add notes, and the committee scheduled a workday on Jan. 17 at the Henrich property to assess a proposed parking area and site conditions.
