Avon resident offers two-acre donation for proposed fire station; city cites wetlands and timing concerns

Skip Conant of 36500 Mills Road read a letter into the record offering to donate two acres he owns for the proposed new fire station and said donating the parcel could allow the City to use purchase funds for the Middleton Road extension.
Conant told Council he has been an Avon resident 38 years and owns 33 acres on Detroit Road and expressed concern that the proposed land price for the fire station appears excessive compared with other local land sales. Mayor Bryan Jensen acknowledged the offer but said the Administration had concerns about wetlands, stormwater retention, and other challenges that could delay construction for years; he noted the current proposed site is ready to build.
