Village Project asks Avon for continued $10,000 support plus $5,000 contingency to sustain cancer meal deliveries

Betts presented service statistics showing growth from 543 meals in 2023 to 1,587 meals in 2025 and said the 2025 deliveries represented approximately $47,000 in care value. She asked the City to continue $10,000 in annual support and to make a $5,000 contingency available; "this support ensures that Avon families, when they face a cancer diagnosis, have one less thing they have to worry about," Betts said.
Council members voiced strong support for the organization. Council member Tony Moore, who serves on the Village Project board, thanked the City and referenced the personal significance of the work. Council President Brian Fischer described the group's work as "God's work," and Mayor Bryan Jensen urged Village Project to contact the City if needs exceed allocated funding.
