The Dell Rapids City Council authorized staff to file a DANR Community Forestry grant application for 2026, a 50/50 match program with a maximum city reimbursement of $5,000 for tree purchases.
"It's a fiftyfifty grama with a maximum contribution of $5,000 So we'll get back 5 if we spend at least 5 on new trees," Steve told the council while describing the grant mechanics. He asked the mayor to sign the application; the council moved, seconded and carried the authorization to file the grant application.
Steve also reported that a recent AARP trail-lighting grant round did not advance Dell Rapids to the final cut but that an informal $10,000 opportunity had been suggested by a contact from a recent Main Street USA conference; he said he will pursue future grant rounds.
