Hebert described the boxes and locations: "They'll be about 2 feet long, 14 inches wide, and 2 to 3 inches in-depth," and said units would be placed roughly 10–15 feet from walking paths and attached about 10 feet up in trees. He said he will build the houses from cedar, stain them, and personally maintain them; city works indicated approval as long as trees are not damaged.
Council members asked about how many bats might roost in each house and the long-term maintenance plan. Hebert said each house could hold "like, 4 to 5 in there" and that he would maintain them, noting prior scout projects sometimes lack ongoing maintenance. The council moved, seconded and carried a motion approving the project.
