The Lewistown City Commission approved the first reading of Ordinance No. 1774 on Oct. 20 to adopt the 2021 International Fire Code and authorize the City Attorney to codify it.
City Manager Holly Phelps told commissioners the adoption mirrors the state's requirements: the City must adopt whichever code the State of Montana adopts and may choose more stringent standards but not less. The motion for first reading was made by Commissioner Robertson and seconded by Commissioner Buehler; the roll-call vote was unanimous.
