"On our capital budget, we've allotted for 3,000,000. They can do all of that work. I'll say 3.1, but that also includes rekeying the entire district," Willis said during the discussion. He added the project includes a new gym floor, painting, windows and doors and stressed a security benefit of a master-key system for maintenance staff.
Board members probed the per-lock cost and whether whole locks or cylinders would be changed. One board member asked whether the quoted price represented changing cylinders or entire locks and raised concerns about the total number of doors (Willis said roughly 4,500 doors could be involved). Willis and staff described the proposed price as a "value price" and pointed to an estimated $152,000 saving from another recent roof project as a partial offset.
The addendum was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript. The board's approval authorizes staff to proceed with the scope described in the addendum and to finalize contracting details with Schneider Electric.
