Avon council fills vacancies, honors former state senator

Chairman Polhamus introduced Jackie Paul as a nominee for the Recreation & Parks Committee; Paul said she moved to Avon in 2020 and has three young children. On a motion by Ms. Ausiello, seconded by Mrs. Barthel, Council unanimously appointed Paul to a term through Dec. 31, 2025.
Council accepted with regret the resignation of Harry Captain from the Board of Finance and then appointed Michael Szekeres to fill that vacancy through Dec. 31, 2025; both votes were unanimous. Earlier in the meeting the Council adopted a resolution honoring Lisa Seminara for seven years of local and state service, including recent service as State Senator for the 8th Senate District; the resolution noted Seminara’s roles on the Aging, Human Services and Education committees.
Seminara thanked the Council for the recognition and said she looks forward to serving the community in other ways. The clerk attested the meeting minutes at adjournment.
