The Avon Town Council voted to recommend to the Board of Finance an appropriation not to exceed $65,000 from the Police Special Services Fund for the purchase of a police vehicle and related emergency equipment; staff reported a remaining balance of about $260,000 in that fund after the transfer. The motion passed unanimously.
Separately, after entering executive session on collective bargaining, the council returned and authorized the Town Manager to execute a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the United Public Service Employees Union, COPS Division (UPSEU/COPS) covering July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027. The motion to authorize execution was moved by Mrs. Barthel, seconded by Ms. Ausiello, and passed by the council.
