Council waives bidding, approves up to $150,000 for DPW service utility vehicle from out-of-state vendor

Public Works Director Bruce Williams explained staff searched local and State procurement programs before identifying a vehicle out-of-state with needed features and negotiated price. The vehicle will replace the oldest truck in the Machinery & Equipment Division and is to be paid from prior ARPA funds that remain in the program’s allocation.
Councilors voted in favor of the waiver and award (Ausiello moved; Barthel seconded).
Why it matters: The contract award uses a sole-source waiver for specialized equipment and draws from ARPA appropriations; Council noted prior ARPA appropriations included $200,000 originally with some funds already spent on another pickup.
