Avon Council adopts streamlined ordinance linking town to regional waste authority

"The Central Connecticut Solid Waste Authority (CCSWA) is housed under the umbrella of Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG), it has been around for about 13 years, it facilitates inter-town cooperation related to garbage; the ordinance language has been streamlined to make it less likely for future revisions going to the towns for an ordinance review and revision," the Town Manager said during the hearing.
Councilmember Mr. Weber moved to open the hearing; Ms. Ausiello seconded. After discussion the Council voted to close the public hearing and then voted to approve the proposed changes. The motion to approve the amended and restated ordinance passed five to zero, with Mmes. Ausiello, Barthel, Bratton and Messrs. Polhamus and Weber recorded in favor.
Why it matters: the revision is intended to simplify the town’s enabling language so future procedural changes at the regional authority do not require repeated local ordinance amendments. Council materials indicate a copy of the proposed amendments is on file with the Avon Town Clerk for public inspection.
