Resident asks how to replace dead street tree; urban forester outlines options

Tyrone Williams, a resident of more than two decades, asked the commission what residents should do after losing a tree in the tree lawn. "I've been a resident of Euclid for 20 years or more... I had a tree in my tree lawn maybe 4 years ago, and it died," Williams said, and asked whether he should plant a replacement or seek city assistance.
Jody Latwell, Euclid's urban forester, told Williams residents have two primary options: "You can pull a permit to plant a tree... and that would be through me," Latwell said, or wait until the city has planting capacity and pursue a city-assisted planting. Latwell offered to provide contact details and guidance on proper planting and young-tree training.
