Council hears request to replace radio consoles; vendor timeline limits deferral

"We can absolutely make it another year if we need to with the understanding that next year won't be optional," a communications staff member said when asked about deferral. Council asked staff to benchmark surrounding counties' compensation for 9-1-1 staff and other related operating needs as part of the budget review. The estimated replacement cost discussed in the meeting was about $1.9 million; staff said partial deferral is possible but warned the program will be back before council next year.
