Select Board approves July 17 effective date for store liquor/tobacco license transfer

The Select Board considered a request to set an effective date for a liquor and tobacco license transfer to new store owners. Town staff explained that the new license can only take effect after the incumbent operator surrenders its license; the board can approve an effective date to be recorded in the minutes so the transfer proceeds immediately upon surrender.
A board member moved to approve making the new owner’s license effective July 17, 2026; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. Staff will note the board’s approval and file the date in the licensing portal once the incumbent surrenders the license, at which point the new license will take effect automatically.
