Council narrows traffic review to Oak Brook speed monitoring; full traffic study deferred

Administrator Jordan Daugherty and Public Works Director Mike Hill told Council there is a distinction between a limited speed study and a comprehensive traffic study that models turns and travel routes. Hill said some work is relatively simple: "A speed study on Oak Brook can be done, traffic counts can be done, both are relatively easy — speed could possibly be accomplished with the automatic speed sign that the Village has."
Council members agreed to start with speed monitoring on Oak Brook by relocating the automatic speed sign from Heller and to revisit a broader traffic study later if warranted; Daugherty said a full study would likely cost about $10–12K and noted that the Village can require a developer of a new subdivision to pay for a traffic or speed study as part of the submission.
