Officials urge linking state livestock assistance to local extension as fuel- and supply-logistics strain response

"The experiment station, David Bonner, and others are already in the loop on that and could just use some support," Commissioner Frank said, noting the county incorporated those contacts into the draft letters. He also described operational frictions: visiting teams have had trouble obtaining tires and fuel because state processes require reimbursement rather than direct payment, which can delay field logistics.
"They can't do direct expenses. So if they have to have Schwab service truck come out to work on a Hummer tire, they can't bill Schwab's directly. They have to pay Schwab's out of their accounts and then get reimbursed," Commissioner Frank said, explaining why local actors sometimes fill gaps at their own expense.
