Harney County Court unanimously approves three letters asking state and federal leaders to unlock wildfire funds

Commissioner Frank moved that the Harney County Court sign three letters supporting wildfire suppression efforts and urging state and federal assistance; Commissioner Dorril seconded and the court approved the motion by voice vote.
"I I move that we sign 3 letters in support of the fire suppression efforts that are going on," Commissioner Frank said before the motion was seconded. The letters target state and federal leaders and request actions including making a $1,000,000 RFPA appropriation usable during the current wildfire emergency and linking state livestock-assistance to the county's OSU extension response.
Commissioner Frank described difficulty local RFPAs have had accessing the state appropriation: "The governor in our state allocated 1000000 dollars to them, but it is not very accessible." Following voice votes of "Aye," the presiding judge announced the motion carried and staff were authorized to finalize and send the letters.
