Skate Upstate urges Westminster to consider county'first skate park, cites $450,000 build cost

"So I just think it'd be really cool if Westminster was the 1st city in Oconee to build a skate park," Cruz said while describing the Clemson project.
Cruz said the skate-park portion of Clemson's facility was about 8,000 square feet and cost roughly "$450,000," with the broader park renovation totaling about $3,000,000; his nonprofit raised about "$15,000" toward that effort. He offered contact names from Clemson and suggested the council could host events to help fund operations and attract visitors. Several students from Westminster stood in support during the presentation.
City officials thanked Cruz and said staff could follow up with technical questions and coordinate visits to nearby parks. The mayor and staff did not commit to a site or funding source at the meeting; Cruz asked council members to consider the idea and allowed staff to contact Clemson for guidance.
