"I move that the board of trustees adopt, reject, or change the independent hearing examiner's findings of fact and conclusions of law as presented in writing to the board," Board Vice President Nancy Humphrey said when making the motion.
President Lauren Tyra read the motion into the record, confirmed a second by Trustee Tara Lance, and called for a vote after saying there was no further discussion. The record shows the president noting "7 hands up"; the minutes reflect the motion passed unanimously. The board directed that the written findings be incorporated by reference into the hearing record and that President Tyra sign the document as evidence of the board’s written reasons. This action followed the board’s closed-session hearing earlier in the evening and was described by the board as taken pursuant to the commissioner's remand of the matter to the district.
