The Hammond Redevelopment Commission received two letters of interest for Kennedy Avenue properties and voted to refer both proposals to staff for further review. Anne Miller summarized the first letter of intent from SSS 1 LLC offering $80,000 for an HRC-owned vacant parcel at the northeast corner of Kennedy Avenue and 65th Street; the proposed use was described as a 2–3 unit commercial building with tenants including a fast-casual restaurant, a sit-down restaurant and a coin laundromat. "They have made an offer for the land, for $80,000," Miller said.
Miller also relayed a separate letter of interest from Florence Decker for 6208 Kennedy Avenue and an adjacent parcel; Decker proposed to purchase the property for $120,000, open a tavern and retain Windy City Pizza as a tenant. Commissioners moved, seconded and voted to refer both communications to staff for review and to report back with recommendations at a future meeting.
