Board reviews NIPSCO license for Marquette Greenway extension

The Hammond City Board of Public Works and Safety reviewed a request to approve a NIPSCO license agreement for the Marquette Greenway Trail extension between 150th Street and White Oak, the border area with Chicago. Dean Button told the board the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission had provided funding to support the extension and said NIPSCO has changed its license-agreement policy, so council reviewed the revised agreement and the board's approval was requested.
Button said the bike trail north of the project follows NIPSCO right-of-way and that the revised agreement had been reviewed by council. "We received funding from the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission to extend the Market Greenway between 150th and White Oak," Button told the board. Board members recommended approval and the Chair concurred.
