County health staff recommended Josh Barson for the role of director of behavioral health for the Bear River Health Department; the commission approved the appointment in support of the interlocal arrangement across three counties.
"Josh has 9 years experience as a licensed clinical social worker," the recommending official said, adding Barson has served in clinical leadership and as deputy director for substance-abuse and behavioral-health services. Barson spoke briefly and expressed appreciation for the opportunity.
Staff told commissioners they have drafted a contract between the health department and Bear River Mental Health, have submitted it to that partner for review, and anticipate the contract will be in place by July 1 to prevent any disruption in services. The commission approved the appointment by motion and voice vote and indicated support for the interlocal structure and the forthcoming contract.
