City Clerk Melissa Burton reported May 7 that eligible retirees in the Non-Uniform plan will receive a cost-of-living adjustment of 1.42% effective June 1, 2026, under Municipal Code Section 125.200.
"COLA will be 1.42%," Burton said, explaining the rate is 60% of the 2.36% change in the St. Louis Metropolitan Consumer Price Index used for the calculation. She told the board the adjustment produces a total monthly increase of $1,199.23 and an annual increase of $14,390.75 across the affected payments.
The board did not record further debate on the calculation during the meeting; the clerk's report set the effective date and fiscal impact for staff follow-up.
