CJ and Kimberly Roberts requested a fee waiver to hold a free, interfaith Community Christmas event at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds indoor arena on Sunday, Dec. 14. They said the event would be interfaith, invite local schools and religious organizations, and include a live nativity and singing.
Commissioners said the county could waive the fee but required the sponsoring entity to provide the county with proof of insurance and to sign the facility agreement. “I’m happy to make a motion to say I would waive the fees if they can get the insurance paperwork processed for this community type event,” a commissioner said. The commission approved the waiver contingent on those conditions and instructed the organizers to coordinate with fairgrounds staff (Jan) to complete scheduling and the agreement.
County staff advised the sponsoring organization will need to meet insurance requirements and follow fairgrounds rules; the waiver applies only after those administrative requirements are satisfied.
