Commission appoints three to Behavioral Health Advisory Council

Bear River Health Department representatives presented three nominees for the Box Elder County seat(s) on a regional Behavioral Health Advisory Council and the commission approved each by voice vote.
Joshua Barson of Bear River Health Department introduced Ashton Bennion, a Promontory School staffer with a recent MSW and school‑based mental health experience; the commission appointed her to a two‑year term starting Jan. 1. Barson described Michael C. Crane, who has experience with adult probation, parole and mental health court and holds a Juris Doctor; Crane was appointed to a three‑year term starting Jan. 1, 2026. The commission then appointed Janelle Jeffries, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Utah, to a four‑year term.
Barson said the council will advise counties under an interlocal agreement on planning and delivery of mental health and substance‑use services. Commissioners did not record dissent and each appointment was approved by a verbal vote.
