District staff presented a midyear update to the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), giving trustees a checkpoint on progress and spending for board goals.
"Currently, we're in yellow... our progress for our EL students is 65%. Our goal is 70," Dr. Chamberlain reported while reviewing Goal 1 academic metrics and related expenditures. He provided planned and year-to-date spending figures: planned expenditures for Goal 1 were $6,158,887 and total expenditures through Jan. 31 were $3,000,202.621.
For Goal 2 (attendance and safety), staff reported chronic absenteeism at 27 percent against a 17 percent goal, suspension rate at 2.7 percent (goal 0), and a graduation rate at 100 percent. Goal 3 metrics included 66 percent of teachers holding clear credentials and zero teacher misassignments reported.
Board members thanked staff for the thorough presentation and noted the LCAP is the document tying goals to planned expenditures; trustees encouraged use of the LCAP when evaluating actions tied to student outcomes.
