Council flags attendance problems on Planning & Zoning commission

Members said inconsistent attendance has left some hearings with only four participants and that practice has affected the commission’s ability to provide reliable recommendations to council.
Councilors asked staff to clarify how excused absences are recorded and committed to revisiting the board‑and‑commission handbook and onboarding practices with the city attorney and manager so future boards have clearer rules and consistent tracking.
No formal removals or replacements were made at the Dec. 4 session; the council said it will finalize appointments at its Dec. 16 meeting and will use the next two weeks to verify records and follow up with applicants and current members.
