Senior Advisory Board outlines outreach, transportation and programs; requests more direct outreach to older adults

"Provide education for seniors, our resource fair was 1 of the really 1 of the best. Had 43 vendors, over 200 attendants," Cutter said, listing six free seminars and vendor support. Cutter also summarized programs that recognize residents age 100, the golf-cart shuttle at the Rowlett Community Center and ongoing outreach efforts to seniors living in 55+ communities.
Council members asked about expanding shuttle service and programming; staff and board members said the existing Gold Card shuttle runs four days per week and reported usage and cost figures during discussion. The board urged the city to explore additional outreach and to consider hosting meetings in senior housing common spaces to reach isolated residents.
