The chief said the department responded to 231 calls for county service over two years (about 9–10 per month), that revenue collected totaled roughly $154,000 ($108,000 from county payments and $46,000 from medical/fire billing) and that the city incurred roughly $40,000 in direct costs over the same period, yielding net revenue of approximately $113,771 so far. The chief also said the city is still awaiting about $17,000 in outstanding billing from the county.
Several council members expressed concern about operational strain, the risk of equipment downtime and liability language in the contract that assigns responsibility for negligent acts. Staff acknowledged those concerns, said they had not seen county response obligations cause missed city calls during the contract term, and noted the agreement includes a 90‑day termination clause. One council member requested the item be pulled from the consent agenda for regular-session consideration so each council member could cast an individual vote rather than approving it on consent.
