Assistant Superintendent Dr. Courtney Gober said the district relaunched a virtual academy that allows students to take virtual classes alongside in‑person schedules, remain full‑time virtual while staying connected to their home high school activities, and accept out‑of‑district students. Registration closed with 155 applicants and staff expect to qualify about 100–120 students for the program.
Ivan Cantu and other program leaders described academy programs and the CTE center: specialized academies (including IB, health sciences and high‑tech pathways) let students earn college credits through partner institutions. Tony Pearson earlier described the CTE center as a 160,000‑square‑foot facility with hands‑on industry labs and a targeted October 2026 completion. Chief Communications Officer Leslie Raine Stanton presented a 40‑day enrollment campaign snapshot that reported more than 200,000 impressions, 785 campaign leads and about 43,300 website views in the snapshot period.
Board members asked how hospital/homebound services would fit the virtual model; presenters said those students could be eligible while district staff continue in‑home or in‑hospital instruction as needed.
