Chairman Terry (speaker 8) introduced HB 20‑21, a bill requested by podiatrists to allow treatment of soft tissue up to the tibial tuberosity (just below the knee), limited to soft‑tissue components.
"This bill... allow them to treat soft tissue up to the tibial tuberosity, which is just below the knee. And it says only soft tissue components," the chairman said. Representative McKenzie (speaker 4) asked for clarification that "soft tissue" does not include interventional procedures; the chairman confirmed the sponsor's intent that the authorization is limited to soft‑tissue work.
Committee members thanked the podiatrists for their work and the bill passed 6–0 to move on to the full Health Committee.
