Panel approves lowering age for childcare work‑based learning to 16

Representative Stinnett told the House Health Subcommittee that HB 2398 simply changes the minimum age to place high‑school students in childcare settings from 18 to 16 to allow work‑based learning opportunities. "All I'm asking you to do is to change that to 16 years of age so we can put work based learning students into child care units," he said. The committee voted 7–0 to advance the measure to full Health.
The sponsor stood for questions but members raised none; the clerk recorded a unanimous vote and the bill was advanced without amendment.
