Committee advances technical correction to correctional health contracting language

The subcommittee unanimously advanced House Bill 19‑54, a drafting correction to public chapter 295 that clarifies which entities hold contracts to provide correctional health services.
"We don't contract with a state correctional facility. The contracts are with the Department of Corrections, and this bill just makes that technical change," Representative Helton Haynes (speaker 10) told members. He explained the change corrects a technical error in section 2(b) of last year's law and does not alter policy scope.
