NDOW reports canceled fishing derby, bat fungus detection and recent collaring of antelope and deer

Moira Kolada, representing the Nevada Department of Wildlife, gave a series of monitoring updates. She said the county fishing derby was canceled because of warm weather and that NDOW had detected Pd (a fungus associated with white-nose syndrome in bats) near Lake Mead and would continue statewide monitoring. She reported recent collaring of antelope and deer in several management areas to track movement patterns near areas of potential development.
Kolada offered specific counts: "They had captured some antelope as follows: 30 head south of Hwy 50 in areas 131, 132, 143; 20 head in area 10, and in areas 104, 108, 102, and 109; and 20 head in area 121," the minutes record. She told the committee that sage-grouse lek counts locally were stable or downward-trending and identified drought and decoupling as triggers that could negatively affect lek populations.
