At a March 26 meeting at the Veterans Memorial Building, the Pahrump Arena Advisory Committee reviewed possible designs for a Covered Event Center and pens/arenas at the county fairgrounds, comparing three existing layout models (Reno, Clark and Colorado) alongside a hand-drawn draft and an image of a Queen Creek design provided by a member. Committee members flagged contestant parking and spectator accommodations as priorities and asked staff to research space requirements for bleachers.
Committee member Robert Tibbits explained the Cross Fire Livestock System and noted that the Reno Arena layout “takes up roughly 1.28 acres.” Members discussed switching the footprints for the indoor facility and the Covered Event Center, and suggested adding locker-style shower facilities for contestants (a proposed feature that would sit outside the forty-acre arena footprint in a central project location). The committee also agreed it needs formal bids on both the Covered Event Center and the indoor facility to understand potential costs.
